Growing up living in the country, takeout was rarely an option. We lived on a farm and raised beef, pork, chicken and turkey’s. I grew up watching my parents cook traditional Canadian farm food. My favorite place to be was in my Nana’s kitchen watching her make pies and tarts and all sorts of yummy treats.
When I was about 11 I started cooking for the family as one of my chores because when you live on a farm everyone pitches in. By the time I left for college I had a tonne of recipes that I had gathered over the years. As time went on I slowly changed and perfected them to suit my families tastes.
Our middle daughter has Asperger’s Syndrome, a type of autism and with that comes a bunch of sensory integration issues. Her biggest challenge is food and many of the recipes you find here are comfort foods that were my fall backs if she was having a day where nothing she ate tasted “right”.
Today, if you’re a student away from home getting tired of cafeteria food or a busy couple who can’t find the time for cooking but get tired of takeout, or a senior wanting to stay at home but needing a bit of help, then you have come to the right place! Check out my new MealsByMom.com Website. I take great pride in making for you foods made from fresh ingredients without adding extra chemicals or preservatives. When you’re ready just heat the dish in an oven or microwave, serve and enjoy, just as I did when my nana made a meal for me!
